Thanks to Barbary Grant for sharing the music, magic and history of the Irish harp with us.

The power to evoke deep feeling lured Barbary away from a successful career as a classical pianist into the lyrical world of traditional Celtic music. "Discovering my singing voice," says Barbary, "opened a natural and potent emotional connection with my audience." Her powerful and expressive voice combines with her dynamic Irish harp in unapologetically beautiful music. By turns romantic and playful, Barbary's music and warm stage presence have captivated concert-goers throughout California for more than a decade. Barbary performs many songs in Irish and Scots Gaelic. She has worked with several private tutors to learn lyrics in their native languages. This homage won her first place in competition at the 1998 Great American Irish Fair. Recently she has added Manx songs to her repertoire.

In 1997 Barbary produced her first CD, Brigit's Well, with flautist Aimee Aul under the Changeling Records label. Her solo recordings, Bonny at Morn and Celtic for Kids, were both released in June 2002. Celtic for Kids has been awarded a Parents' Choice Recommendation. "Grant captivates people with her beautiful voice . . . (Her) skill in singing in native languages has earned her praise from the Irish community." - San Francisco Examiner.
